When you first visit FlockDaily.com, we assign a random, anonymous identifier (UUID) stored in a browser cookie called player_id. This identifier:

  • Is randomly generated and cannot be traced back to your identity
  • Is used solely to track your game progress, streaks, and statistics across visits
  • Is stored as an HTTP-only, secure cookie with a 2-year expiration
  • Is not shared with third parties for advertising or marketing

2.2 Game Data

We store the following game-related data associated with your anonymous player ID:

  • Words you've guessed in each puzzle
  • Number of guesses per game
  • Whether you solved the puzzle and earned a reference bonus
  • Time taken to solve
  • Current and maximum streak counts
  • Total games played and won

2.3 Local Storage

We use your browser's localStorage to save your in-progress game state for the current day's puzzle. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers until you complete an action (guess, solve, etc.).

2.4 Automatically Collected Information

Through our hosting provider (Cloudflare), we may automatically collect:

  • IP address (processed by Cloudflare for security and performance; not stored by us)
  • Browser type and version
  • Device type
  • Pages visited and time of access
  • Referring URL

We use collected information to:

  • Provide and maintain the Game experience (progress, stats, streaks)
  • Improve game mechanics and user experience
  • Monitor site performance and detect abuse

5. Data Storage & Security

Your game data is stored using:

  • Cloudflare D1 — A serverless SQL database hosted on Cloudflare's global edge network. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
  • Cloudflare KV — A key-value store used to cache daily puzzle data for performance. No personal data is stored in KV.
  • Cloudflare Workers — Our server-side logic runs on Cloudflare's edge network, processing requests close to your location for minimal latency.

All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.

6. Data Retention

Game data associated with your anonymous player ID is retained indefinitely to maintain your statistics and streaks. Since no personally identifiable information is stored, this data cannot be linked to you.

You can reset your game data at any time by clearing your browser's cookies and localStorage for flockdaily.com. This will assign you a new anonymous player ID on your next visit.

FlockDaily does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Our anonymous cookie-based system does not collect names, email addresses, or any personally identifiable information from any user, including children.
